Entry Level Animal Care

UKRS Rural Skills

Entry level animal care is set at study level E2/E3 equivalent and designed for home study, specialist schools and independent schools. 

Learners can do a theory only course or a practical course with the latter requiring appropriate health and safety standards.

The theory course consists of five units:

1. Animal handling - how to handle animals safely

2. Providing food and water - the importance of water

3. The Five Freedoms - what we must do for animals

4. Animal health 1 - signs of health and ill-health

5. Exercise - the importance of exercise

Each unit has questions and activities to complete so there is assessment of learning and ability.

The theory course is presented in a workbook and with home tutoring or school support materials. This course is assessed externally by a tutor from AB&C Education.

Theory Course

Course fee: £50.00 plus £6.00 for certification by UK Rural skills

The practcal course is presented in a workbook with spaces for pictures and records of practical activities with animals. Questions and tasks are included.

This course is assessed externally by a tutor from AB&C Education.

Practical Course

Course fee: £80.00 plus £6.00 for certification by UK Rural skills
